This collaborative project was a demonstration of my 4 years of IT studies, Using web development to create a mental health website. I was also able to use my skills in UX/UI to create a cohesive plan and approach to designing the site.

Goal

To create a mental health platform that combines mediation, journaling, information and a support system

Target Audience

According to the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, depression rates amongst young adults are rising at a much faster race than any other demographic.1 After 8 years of conducting research and collecting data from more than 600, 000 it was found that particularly people in their early 20s stop participating in leisurely activities and generally lose interest in life, especially compared to the same age group 10 years ago. No other age group has a depression rate over 10%. This is often found amongst college students, which is why we’re trying to appeal mostly towards late highschool/ college aged students, seeing as this is the moment in their lives when they’re most likely to experience depression. Our aim is for the website to be used like exercise, constantly working at your mental health and mindfulness to prevent any early onset symptoms. However, we will provide a support feature in case anyone’s mental health state is beyond mindfulness exercises.
